Inspect heavy equipment such as garbage trucks, compactors, loaders, bulldozers, and other specialized vehicles to identify any wear and tear, damage, or malfunction. Use diagnostic tools and techniques to identify equipment's mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and determine the root causes of malfunctions. Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and longevity, including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, belt adjustments, brake inspections, and other preventive maintenance procedures. Diagnose and repair various components and systems within heavy equipment, including engines, transmissions, and hydraulic and electrical systems. Conduct welding and fabrication work to repair or modify equipment components and structures, ensuring they meet safety and operational standards. Order, procure, and replace damaged or worn-out parts using manufacturer specifications to ensure proper fit and functionality. Investigate equipment malfunctions and identify complex issues, utilizing problem-solving skills to develop effective repair strategies. Conduct functional tests after repairs to ensure all systems operate correctly and safely before the equipment is returned to service. Keep track of spare parts inventory and maintain a well-organized parts storage area. Follow company policies, safety protocols, and industry best practices while performing maintenance and repair tasks.
A High school diploma and two years of experience are required for this job opportunity.
