Roles/Responsibilities:
Reviews and approves applications for Notices of Intent to Drill new oil and gas wells
Reviews and recommends approval of injection well applications; reviews and approves applications to plug and abandon wells
Develop cost estimates and schedules for well abandonments by the Commission
Write plugging and abandonment procedures for wells to be abandoned by Commission
Maintain formation tops, completion information and drill stem test data for electronic well files Evaluate and upgrade historic drill stem test and core data in electronic database
Perform geological and engineering studies utilizing PETRA mapping program
Witness testing or plugging operations on regulated wells as necessary
Coordinate with Field Inspections inspection requirements.
Skills and Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering or petroleum geology plus training in evaluation of mechanical, electrical and radioactive well logs.
Three years' experience as petroleum engineer or geologist.
Effective communication skills. (These may be acquired on the job and are needed to perform the work assigned.)
Receive personal conferences as needed.
Requires knowledge of oil and gas reservoirs and engineering principles.
Must be self-motivated with ability to analyze petroleum problems.
