Quality Assurance Assistant
We are a national supplier of tool, equipment and safety product lines for the Canadian and US markets. Our range of products include: abrasives, air tools, hand tools, material handling, lifting equipment and safety apparel and products. Our headquarter is in Elgin, Illinois, the Canadian location is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada with six branch offices located in the major cities across Canada. This position will be located in Elgin, Illinois.
The Quality Assurance Assistant will be responsible for direct examination of product to ensure that quality standards and procedures are met and aligned with product standards, legislation and customer specifications.
Reporting to the QC Manager, the Quality Assurance Assistant will take complete responsibility for the product compliance and Quality systems at the facility, with a focus on continuous improvement of standards and practices, in order to ensure that regulatory compliance and customer specifications are met.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs on-line process checks and verification checks on incoming and in process products
Performs daily checks of finished products and provides immediate feedback to production supervisors, managers and QA management. Where specifications are not met, puts product on hold and follows through until products are released or removed from service.
Assists with investigations of customer complaints and in supplier management program.
Verifies the accuracies of measuring devices and ensures all laboratory equipment is certified for use and/or sent in for calibration
Work with customers and R&D team to develop product requirements.
ABOUT YOU:
3-5 years Quality Assurance experience in the manufacturing of personal protective equipment or similar manufacturing setting.
Ability to Read blueprints and specifications
Excellent oral and written English skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to document findings accurately.
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced production environment
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with managers, supervisors and production floor employees
Direct knowledge of QA methodologies.
Practical experience with risk management, product testing, capability studies, and control plans.
Highly motivated and self-directed capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision.
Extremely detail-oriented and analytical thinker.
Able to interface directly with cross-functional teams.
Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents.
Able to develop, review, and maintain metrics and quality audits.
Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn new software applications.
Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
Remove all products and materials that fail to meet specifications
Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products
Report inspection and test data
