General Purpose of the Job
Senior Designers are responsible for developing design solutions to meet customer component and assembly requirements. This activity includes problem solving with support from the Engineer, and working with cross-functional teams for issue resolution. To successfully perform this job, a understanding of complicated design concepts is necessary, as well as the ability to make decisions based on general Vehicle Development design practices and procedures. Proficiency in CAD Tools and the ability to understand and follow Standard Modeling Methods is essential to this position. The ability to interface with the customer and provide solutions to issues is an essential capability of this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Proficient in design methods and procedures based on common modeling process.

Thorough knowledge of automotive components and subsystems.

Ability to design new components and assemblies via CAD.

Ability to make design changes to existing parts via CAD.

A thorough understanding of GD&T and how to apply from component to assembly.

Duties will include tracking & managing electronic data using customer database(s).

Senior Designers are responsible for releasing components & assemblies using customer software.

Senior Designers are responsible for modifying components & assemblies using customer software.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (BS) from four-year college or university; or a minimum of ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
English language ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Project, Word and Power Point.
Decision Making Authority
Ability to approve monetary decisions related to product pricing.
