Full Job Description:
Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group): Work in glass development group to support new glass development program and fundamental understanding (e.g. Gorilla Glass and CAG programs). Support key customer requests and other projects across the organization with glass supply and sample processing for efforts around mechanical fundamental understanding, product qualification, DOEs etc. Perform some metrology, glass inspections and documentation.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
• Sample preparation for testing
• Assist with samples coordination for DOEs, product qualification and fundamental understanding
• Perform stress measurements and frangibility tests on glass samples
• Perform glass analysis/inspections/processing
• Support scientists with generating requests for glass processing and testing. Sample submission for testing, tracking and compilation of data
• Create and maintain spreadsheets for data, inventory, shipping, sample processing etc…
• Generate/maintain documentation (Period reports, SOPs, safety documents, 5S)
• Lab maintenance in regards to safety/5S
• Collaborate with various scientists and service groups
• Glass shipments to key customers and other Corning facilities
• Understanding offsite storage logistics to be able to send and retrieve items as needed
Travel Requirements: Travel to various test labs within Sullivan Park and MT&E (downtown) for sample delivery
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Overtime as needed (minimal)
Education and Experience Education:
Minimum AAS Experience: Glass handling background/material science
