Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Minimum education and or experience: High school diploma or GED certificate and one 1 year experience as a Court Clerk Associate or two 2 years of case processing or related experience in another court. One 1 year of post-secondary education may substitute for one 1 year of case processing experience. Preferred education and or experience: Preference will be given to those with Justice Court experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of court policies and procedures. Knowledge of legal terminology; Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures; Knowledge of personal computer software; Knowledge of principles and practices pertaining to assigned department; Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications; Skill in both oral and written communication. NOTE: Degrees credits must be from an academically accredited college or university as recognized by the U. S. Department of Education USDE or the Council for Higher Education CHEA. ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS: Performs file management functions, creating new case files and researching record requests; Records and transcribes dictation; Summarizes and prepares court proceedings in minute entry form; Reads and interprets minute entries; Types docket entries and prepare reports; Prepares and processes formal orders and documents at the direction of the Judge; Issues court related job documents; Marks and maintains all submitted exhibits. ; Administers oaths and certifies documents; Reads information of indictment preceding criminal trials, polls jurors and reads verdicts; Receives and records fines, bonds, and other monies; Coordinates court calendar; Schedules hearing and administrative conferences; Responds to inquiries regarding court cases; Answers questions from public and other agencies; May act as bailiff in court proceedings; Updates database information SELECTION PROCEDURE: Pursuant to the Judicial Merit System Resolution & Rules, the Maricopa County Human Resources Department performs recruitment, assessment and other personnel functions on behalf of the Court System and its departments. The Maricopa County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the exam process only those candidates considered to be the most highly qualified.
